Floating comparison rail

Plans Free, Pro

When you scroll down past the controls at the top, it is easy to forget what the numbers are compared with. The comparison rail stays on screen and tells you: the dates, what they are compared against, the source, and your filters.

It disappears when the controls at the top are in view, so you never see the same thing twice.

Where it appears

  • Wide screens (1680 px and wider): a panel in the left margin, always open.
  • Laptops and tablets: a slim bar at the top of the screen. Click it to open the full panel. Press Escape or click anywhere else to close it.
  • Phones (640 px and narrower): a pill at the bottom of the screen. Tap it to open the panel.

What it shows

  • Comparing: your date range and what it is compared with (previous period, year over year, or no comparison). If you marked two comparison windows on the chart, it shows Focus (B) and Baseline (A) with their lengths instead.
  • Same length: the switch that keeps both windows the same length (the same switch as in the window chip). If the windows differ in length, a note says deltas compare daily averages, and a Match lengths button fixes it.
  • Clear windows: removes both windows.
  • Source: for example “Google · Web”.
  • Filters: each active filter is a chip. Click the x to remove it.
  • Edit: takes you back to the top and to the date control.
  • Applies to: KPIs, Chart and Table. The one you are looking at is in bold.

Keyboard and screen readers: every button in the panel can be reached with Tab. The panel is announced as “Current comparison”. Changes such as “Same length on” and “Filter removed” are announced. If you reduce motion in your system settings, the panel appears without animation.
