Getting started

Sign in, connect Search Console and read your first dashboard.

Using the dashboard

Your sites, the site tabs, number cards, the chart, date ranges and tables.

Your sites page

Every active site with its last 28 days of clicks, impressions, CTR and position, the change against the 28 days before, a 90-day trend and its import status.

The site dashboard

A tour of a site dashboard from top to bottom, with links to the page that explains each part.

Site tabs: Overview, Queries, Pages, Countries & devices, Opportunities, Google updates

The tabs of a site, how to filter by clicking a query or page, and the countries and devices breakdown.

Opportunities

Four ready-made lists of what to work on next - queries close to page one, pages with a weak click-through rate, pages losing clicks and pages competing with each other.

Google updates, winners and losers

Confirmed Google core and spam updates shown as bands on the chart, and a view of the queries and pages that won or lost clicks around each one.

Annotations

Add dated notes for a launch, a migration or a campaign. They show as markers on the chart, in a list, and on page and query detail.

Number cards

Four cards show clicks, impressions, CTR and average position with their change, and choose what the chart draws.

Content groups

Group pages by URL rules (like /tents/ or /blog/), filter every report to a group, and compare groups side by side.

Performance chart

The trend chart on the Overview tab: one panel per metric, a 7-day average, a dashed comparison line, a hatched preliminary area and hover details.

Chart gestures (zoom)

Drag across the chart to zoom into a date range, reset with the Reset zoom button or a double-click, and cancel a drag with Escape.

Comparison windows (A and B)

Shift-drag two date ranges on the chart and compare window B against window A, with synced lengths, weekday matching and draggable edges.

Global controls

The bar at the top of a site's dashboard that sets the search type, date range, comparison, granularity and smoothing, plus the Ctrl/Cmd+K site switcher.

Command palette (site switcher)

Press Ctrl K or Cmd K on any page to jump to a site or to a tab of the site you are on.

Date range

Pick 7D, 28D, 3M, 6M, 12M or 16M to set the dates every number, chart and table follows.

Comparisons

Choose whether your date range is measured against the previous period, the same dates last year, or nothing.

Floating comparison rail

A small panel that follows you down the page and reminds you what the numbers on screen are being compared with.

Queries and pages table

Search, sort and filter the queries or pages behind your numbers, with changes against the comparison and a click change bar.

SEO tests

Find out whether a change to your pages moved your traffic, by comparing them with similar pages you left alone, before and after the change.

Branded and non-branded split

Set your brand terms and view all queries, only branded ones, or only non-branded ones.

Filters

Narrow every number, chart and table to the queries, pages, countries or devices you care about, with all-of and any-of groups, plain-language chips and a live preview.

Monthly heatmap

See the last 12 months for every query or page as a grid of shaded tiles, and spot content that is fading.

Saved filters

Save a set of filters under a name and bring it back in one click, replacing your current filters or adding to them.

Saved views

The Views menu, with a few ready-made filter sets, and how it differs from saved filter sets and from the full saved views the product plans.

Suggested filters

One-click starting points in the filter builder, such as long-tail, questions and buying intent, each with a live count of matches.

Account, sites and plans

Settings, connections, which sites are active, plan limits and deleting your account.

Metrics and concepts

What the numbers mean and why some of them look incomplete.
